To demonstrate to Mr. Industrial Safety that I can follow appropriate protocols, here is a photo of me and Hugh cementing a window:

I'm sure mr safty would be gald to see that..how long does it take for the cement to dry before the window is good to go
ReplyDeleteIt is a slow process -- the primary liquid is linseed oil -- and I have no idea when the cement is completely dry. The window is cleaned up within three days -- the oozing has generally stopped within a day or two.

ReplyDeleteLinseed oil can polymerize and the reaction is exothermic, and rags soaked in it can ignite spontaneously.
Rags soaked with linseed oil stored in a pile are considered a fire hazard because they provide a large surface area for oxidation of the oil, and the oil oxidizes quickly.
It appears your using 4mil nitrile glove, which seems appropriate.

Excellent use of the filtering face piece. It'd be nice to see some safety glasses with side shields.
