Beginning again

In one day the pink dogwood in the corner of the cloister garden flowered. The ground under the Japanese magnolia is littered with browning white and mauve petals; the tree bursts with green leaves. A mockingbird is twittering all night long. Spring is here for Easter week.

  1. Well, guess what...it sounds like Indiana. The pink Dogwood is beginning to bloom in the church courtyard...magnolias are blooming and the spring flowers are all in their best dress. Lovin' every minute. I even have the garden areas ready with potatoes planted and lettuce up. Yum, yum. LR

  2. My dogwoods are beginning to open up, a little late due to the prolonged cold weather. Hoping for a good downpour tomorrow to wash away some of this pollen. My house is a nice pale greenish/yellow.
My sinuses are disturbed to say the least.

  3. Wish you could take and post pictures every now and then. Sounds lovely. Azaleas - late this year - have burst into bloom all over Houston, and the wildflowers - bluebonnets and Indian paintbrushes - are blanketing the countryside. So glad you're back. Happy Springtime!

  4. Fort Wayne dogwoods and magnolias are in full bloom. Our pink dogwood blossoms fall into the garden stones below, pink, white and brown confetti. Forsythias seem more brilliant this year. They are everywhere, sunnying up drab fences and yards. Deciduous non-flowering trees are just greening, so that particular spring sunlight quality, with its vaguely underwater feel, has begun to show itself. The spring garden was sown on St. Patrick's day. Lettuces, scallions, radishes, sorrel, parsley and dill are all up and we'll be eating homegrown salads by next week. Once the May and June vegetables come in, we will not buy produce from the supermarket till October. Hristos voskrese! Voistinu voskrese!

  5. Yes, I'm glad that you're back--mostly because I get to see what others in your life are up to.
The pine pollen is horrendous and our cherry blossoms are gone (enjoyed immensely while here however) but the weather is warm and the lettuce is in. It feels good! And so does this!!!!
